Is the Gibson ES-339 worth it?

Final thoughts – the Gibson ES339 is a great guitar, but you pay for it. This is a superb guitar. You get the looks, style, and sound of the classic 335 but at a more manageable size. You get clean workmanship, a great set-up, and classic finishes from the Memphis Custom Shop.

What’s the difference between the Sheraton 339 and 335 probuckers?

The Sheraton and JP use ProBuckers (Alnico 2, asymmetrical wind), the 339 (and 335 Pro) use Alnico Classic Pros (Alnico v, symmetrical winds). My experience with both pickups is that they’re great, but sound very different. The ProBuckers are a little darker, smoother, and “woody”.

They set up guitars really well before shipping, so unless you prefer a really different setup, you’re likely to be happy with the guitar right out of the box. Is the Epiphone ES-335 Pro any good?

I just bought an Epiphone ES-335 PRO (made in February, 2019) with a nice ‘Iced tea burst’ finish. Better than the 2010 Dot I used to have (better neck above all, and the Pau Ferro fingerboard works fine).
